Content Writing – How to Choose Niche for Blog or Website
What is a Niche
A niche is fundamentally a focused market containing a group of people who share a common interest or quality.
Choosing a Niche Overview
For
a successful Internet Content for Blog or Website, one has to listen,
discuss, write and read about topic more or less on a daily basis for
the next several years. One has to be prepared to work for a year or two
without, or with very little, financial compensation. One has to invest
thousands of hours literally betting with useful time. You have to
develop content that is worth being noticed by internet users. Careful
research for your niche and looking for the precise angle will make your
content irresistible. If you do not choose wisely, you will soon
abandon what you doing because of the simple fact that you are not being
noticed on the internet and you are not getting traffic.
Methodology of Niche Selection
- 1. Brainstorming
|
Niche Selection Process |
You
have to discover your true passion and spend a great amount of time and
energy in creating a good content, promoting your website and be
prepared to learn something new every single day. 99 % of the people,
who try to make money online by running a website, fail. There is no
“get rich quick” scheme. Creating and especially managing a website is a
long learning process and if you do not enjoy it, you will certainly
fail. Take hold of a pencil and a piece of paper, brainstorm many ideas
about your new website, and discover your true passion.
- 2 Research
Go
on net and start research, you will find everything is already
available on the internet. Dozens of people are already doing it and you
will be a mere another addition. Novel idea is one in millions. You
have to create novelty within this gang of competitors. You have to
select niche where you can do that. Also Remember, there is room for
everyone at least for one click. A huge niche may be more work, more
risk, with a slower return, but it also comes with a larger potential
payoff.
- 3. Funnel Down your Research
Select
three to five topics, remember if your topic is too broad, your content
would be scattered and disconnected and you will not get high ranking
on the search engine. However, if you choose a very narrow topic you
will run out of content and very few people may be interested. Research
must give following answers:
- How immense is the niche?
- How competitive is the niche?
- How profitable is the niche?
- 4. Profitability
If
your aim is to earn money through your blog or website, than one of the
most important factor to consider is the profitability. If you are
investing thousands of hours in development of content and at end of the
day you find that content is unable to generate cash on the net, you
will be extremely dejected. I must warn you content generally do not
generate enough cash to be a profitable business venture; therefore, it
is more feasible as hobby rather than business option. Few topics
generate more traffic than others do, you must search Google Trends and
other such sites for popularity of the topic you are choosing.
